People Of Big River Field Class Day 1

Well I'm going to start with yesterday at the pow wow when we got there Jessica bought all of us Indian Tacos which tasted good and it was pretty fun because I got to spend the whole time with Judy, Joel, Jose and Alexis at the pow wow which was pretty fun spending time with those four and I won't forget that because Jose kept teasing me and saying I was looking at the guys at the pow wow and I was not even looking I was just looking around but other than that I had a good time with those four ad that's a good memory because it was Jose and Alexis's first time going to a pow wow and we watched the grand entry and it was good watching the grand entry because I honestly haven't actually watched the pow wow dancers in a long time at any pow wow because I mostly walk around when I'm at a pow wow and it was nice watching the pow wow dancers again and we had to get going after the grand entry because it was like an hour drive back to the camp site and when we got b

Today was a good day even though I was away from my nephew on his 9 th birthday but I'm going to call him to wish him a happy birthday but other than that I had a good day so far even though I had to get up at 6 in the morning but it was fun this morning and we headed up to the kamiake butte to meet up with this guy named Landon who goes to WSU and he was researching pileated woodpecker and we hiked up this high mountain and I was scared out of my mind because of how high I was up and other than that it was pretty fun and after we were done there we headed out of there and headed to the Wellness Center to take showers but on the ride here everyone but the driver fell asleep and I woke up around the construction site that was going on and we got to the Wellness Center to take showers and after we had to blog and after this were going to the Pow Wow and so that's how my night is going so far.

Well today was a good day we got up and came to the Wellness Center to shower and when we got here there was a sauna in there and it was pretty fun to be in because it helped me relax a lot more than I usually am and after I was done sitting in the sauna I took a shower and after we were all done with the shower we sat and chilled for a little while and then we had to head back to the camp site and we had breakfast then we had to make lunch for the day and we headed out again and headed out to the Couer d'Alene Casino and we got to meet Quanah Matheson the director of Cultural Affairs and his father Dave Matheson the owner of the Couer d'Alene Casino and after they were both done talking we got to look at the paintings and the objects they all had and Taylor took a picture of this one painting and a couple people said they looked like me so I had to go look at what they meant and I took a picture it to see what they meant and it didn't look that much like me so yeah afte

Well it was a travel day and we got up around 7 and we had to get ready and pack our tents up and clean up around us so it won't be messy when we leave and after we did that we had breakfast and waited for people to get done blogging so Judy asked me to check her snapchat and I let her and when she was trying to I decided to go lay on Mrs. Trease's van and take a nap and I woke up to them saying it was time to eat our lunch and after we were done with lunch we headed out to Couer d'Alene and we got here around 6 and we put our tents up and we had to help out with the feast they were having when we got there and it was fun helping because we got to help serve elk or deer and camas (root) and it was fun helping out with that stuff so I enjoyed yesterday pretty much and I won't forget that day ever it's a day to remember so yesterday I had a good day and won't forget it ever. So there's how my day went. 

Well today was an alright day got to go the Spokane Tribal Hatchery and it was really nice there because of all the things we were learned there and I swear it was so beautiful to see and how it was to fish back in the day and the different type of fish there are and what they fished for and stuff like that but one of the sayings they had up on the walls were “Before Grand Coulee Dam we wanted for nothing After Grand Coulee Dam we had nothing” and after we left there we went to Anderson Ranch we learned about the woods and everything and then we went to the lake to look at it and I got to hold a frog and Warren put on blast and told me to kiss the frog then we left there and headed back to the camp site and group 1 got to help cook and I got to help sauteed mushrooms and it was fun because Monet helped me the first time but then she let me do it all by myself the rest of the time and then I was done cooking and I got sit and wait for the rest of the food to be done and it didn'

So today we got woke up around 7 and we had breakfast but after breakfast we had to get ready fast and leave at 9 to go to the river and help out there and we got to try catch and let go of fish but it was a pretty good day so far and I honestly had fun doing the volunteer work today and I got to talk to Jessica about what I wanted to go to college for and we had a pretty good talk I loved talking to her about it and she gave me some pretty advice and when we got to the end of where we had to get to we had to climb a high mountain and I was scared to climb the mountain because I am scared of heights like really bad and I almost felt like I was going to die but I was over exaggerating I really wasn't going to die I just am really scared of heights so I kinda got scared of walking up that hill and when we got up to the top of the hill we caught up to the cars and got the equipment off and headed back to the campsite and when we got back we decided to see who was on dinner duty and

Well we got to sleep in until 10 but most of us woke up around 11 and when we all woke up we had brunch and it was pretty good but after we were done eating Warren came by and asked if we wanted to go swimming so we said yeah and when we did go I didn't plan on going swimming but a couple people talked me into swimming and I honestly don't regret swimming because well it was fun swimming with Mrs. Trease, Alexis, Christina, Jay and Joel And Taylor and when we were swimming we were swimming by this log and we were sitting on the log and when I was sitting on the rock Taylor decided to go and push me off the log and when he did I hit a little stick that was popping out of the log and I hit that and I got a little bruise after I hit that but other than that my day kinda went alright and I tried my best to ignore the drama and try and have a good rest of the night so I tried my best to enjoy the rest of the night and I did because I got to talk to Christina about what I was fee

We got woken up really early and had to get our tents packed up and loaded onto the vans and get our laundry on the vans and have them ready for when we came to wash clothes and we also had to help clean their yard up to be generous and leave their place nice and clean and when we were done doing that we got to sit around and Wenix came outside with her daughter and told us some things before we left and how helpful we were and how she was thankful to have us there with her and her family and she can't wait to see our glass arts we made and we got to tell her something we wanted to say but only 2 people told her things and well it was a pretty good day so far so I enjoyed it so far and after we left we had to go gas up and left then went McNary Dam and looked at the salmon and everything then we went to the visitors center to look at the river and everything and how it looked beautiful and stuff and after we left there we were getting ready to head to Pasco to come to Pasco and

Well the day started out slow and good but we ate breakfast and got ready for the day and what we were doing so we had to get some food ready for the feast we were gonna have that night and after we got the food ready we had a drive up to the mountains for Wenix to tell us things about them and stuff like that and she took us to go see what the salmon are like up there compared to down in Yakima and after we did that we drove up towards the mountains so when we did I took a little nap on the way up the mountains and when we got there I woke up and we stopped somewhere and she told us more stuff about what it's like up there and stuff and after she was done telling us that stuff we headed back down the mountain and went to a place to go swimming and eat lunch and we were there for a little while and we had to head back to the place for her to finish up cooking then we had to head out again to go see Wenix's sister because she was going to teach us yoga and when we were doing

Well we got woken up early to go do what we had to do that day and honestly that day was pretty fun because we went to the agency they have down in Umatilla and learned about their traditions down there and Wenix gave us a presentation of the First Foods and how it all went and we left there around 9 and after we left there we went to the Plant Nursery and helped out there till 4 which was pretty fun to do because well we learned more about different plants and what their nutrition's are and how they survive and what they use to survive and when it got to 4 we left there and went back to Wenix's place and when we got back there we got to meet Wenix's mom and she was talking to us about making glass art and we got to choose what we wanted to do so some of us had different ideas and different things we wanted to do and we had to wait until Jessica got back so we could go take showers and after she got back we went to go take our showers and after that we headed back to th

Well we packed up our tents and ate breakfast then put all our stuff in the vans and headed out to go to Wal-Mart to go buy essentials and after that we went to go sit at Starbucks for a little while to go blog for a while we were only supposed to be there for not that long but we ended up being there longer than we expected because a couple peoples computers were acting up on them so we had to wait a little longer for them to be done and after they were done we got ready and headed to Umtilla and that was a long drive there so I slept part of the way there and we got there around 8:30 then when we to Wenix's house we unloaded our tents set them up and after we were done setting up our tents we got dinner ready and ate then we introduced ourselves to them and got to know thing about her and her sister and what their traditions are like and what we were going to be doing the few days we were going to be with them and after that we went to sleep. So that's how that day went.

Well today was a good day I had fun doing the volunteer work today it was fun getting to know everyone I was working with and well when we were at Sparks Lake me and Judy had fun trying to get out one of the polls out it took like forever to get the poll out and after a while a couple of other people decided to come help us out and pull it out and after we went to Northern Twin Lakes and we went to go help cut the bushes that were in the way of walking and because of that I actually got a work out doing that because well the equipment I was using was hard to use and well I’m pretty sure I might be a little sore tonight, after we got done doing that my legs and arms were already hurting and then we went to South Twin Lake to take showers and to swim but I didn’t go swimming because I didn’t want to leave Judy by herself so I didn’t go swimming instead I decided to take a shower instead and then we had to let two of the Heritage Students and I slept on the way back and it was a great

Well yesterday our ride over here was pretty lit because well I was driving with my cousin Judy and my friend Joel and Mr. Clinton and we were listening to music, joking around with each other and I slept part of the ride over here and well we got around 7 and we put our tents up explored a little then after that we ate dinner which was spaghetti and garlic bread  then I did dishes after dinner and then went to watch my friends play cards then after they got done playing cards we had to go to bed. Then this morning they woke us up around 6 something and we ate breakfast which was potatoes, eggs and sausage then we had to do our own lunch and get ready to go to Lava Lands and we were supposed to be there at 7:30 but we were running late and we got there around 10 something and then that’s when we met a couple people and they told us about what their job profession are and their names are Kassidy, Jeff Bab and I feel bad because I forgot some of their names and then after we got to tak
